Fun Finds

On the hunt

Oh how I love a good sale! I find 95% of my furniture and home decor by scouring estate sales, garage sales, flea markets and craigslist. It’s a great way to save a LOT of cash. The best part about these sales? I have one super cute cowboy that goes on the hunt with me. ; )

Recently I picked up this awesome dresser for a whopping $18! I kid you not. It was a great score. If you are willing to put in a little time, you can find excellent deals at sales. I scour craigslist to see what kinds of sales are posted and then head to certain areas of town to see what I can find.

I am kicking myself because I must have deleted the before picture that I took, but I do have one after I sanded it. Just imagine a plain old stained brown. (This picture was pre-blog…I promise I am going to work on my photo-taking skills!).

After I sanded the dresser and drawers down, I used a shop vac to clean out the crevices and hard to reach spots and finished up with a wipe down by a rag. Shop vacs are SO nice; they seriously cut clean up time down tremendously.

Once the prep work was done (phew! Isn’t prep everyone’s least favorite part?) I put two coats of Gravel by Dutch Boy on the entire thing, installed the old hardware, and put it in it’s new home.

What do you think? Worth the $18?
