Do you garden? The previous owners of our home sure did and left us with an amazing crop of fresh fruit. So you could say that we were almost forced into gardening in the best possible way.
Yearly we get fresh blackberries, cherries, peaches and apples. It. Is. Awesome. We get enough peaches from our two trees that we give TONS away to friends and family and still have enough in our deep freeze to last us until next season.
Last year my husband and I decided that we wanted to add some veggies to our garden. He made some raised planters boxes and we had fun growing lettuce, spinach, carrots and strawberries (strawberries really took off for us this year; we collected baskets full).
Do you want to garden, but don’t know where to start? We are like two peas in a pod ; ) My grandma advised me to go online to my local extension office and see what they recommend for planting in my area. You guys. They have SO much information. You can email in questions, have your soil tested, figure out why something isn’t growing and more. They even have handy guides like this one to tell you when and how to plant things.
I’ve done a gardening post before, but I just had to do another because it makes THAT much sense in terms of helping with the grocery budget. Seeds cost pennies people, pennies; and well, we all know fresh fruit and veggies from the grocery store certainly cost more then pennies ; )
What do you grow?
